Unless otherwise noted, all images of plant and insect material are photographed at or near my home in northeast Comal County, Texas, near the Hays County line.
The area is around the rim of one of the many canyons that fall away from a winding ridge known by conquistadors as "Espinazo del Diablo", spine of the devil - too tough to route wagons over. Better to go around to the east along the Escarpment corridor (presently IH-35) or farther to the west (281 corridor).
